It’s (mostly) the little things
*went to training session at corporate alone
*did not get lost
*got there on time
*socialized with strangers
*talked about something other than derby with a leaguemate
*was awesome enough to have my photo on a bout poster
*did not poop my pants during scrimmage (or at all)
Wow, you are pretty much a bad ass this week. I wish that I could give you like a billion high fives.
OMG MATURE BUSINESS
- asked for a raise
- insisted that they make the first offer (because i feel unvalued)
And boom goes the dynamite!
bout footage
i can’t believe how bad i look when i watch bout footage.
like, by no small stretch do i ever think of myself as a great player, but i look back on this footage and i just want to die. i’m embarrassed that i’ve ever asked anyone to come watch me play.
I’m pretty sure that you are being too hard on yourself. I happened to have watched the bout footage live and saw you pull some bad ass moves.
For instance, busting through 3 Attackers to capture lead jammer? That moonwalk move you pulled to force the other team’s jammer to come waaaayyy back in order to get back on the track? I’m sure that you aren’t the smoothest or the fastest skater ever, but you are pretty good player. And your fans DO like watching you skate.
Also, the XX section went crazy when you took lead jammer in the above situation. So apparently they were into it too, ;)

Did you tell anyone (mostly your boss) that you wanted the job … or at least wanted to be considered?
Because people can be pretty dumb, even when they have good intentions. I have a guy that I am supervising right now who really wants to move to another area. But he hasn’t ever told anyone. No one is trying to hold him back, but they probably haven’t considered that he would even WANT that. I told him to talk to my boss, and he’ll probably move this year.
In short, you have to tell people what you want. Managers are bogged down with a bunch of crap and probably don’t have time to think about everyone’s wants.
If you did tell him, and then weren’t considered or given a reason, then that’d fucked up.
so, while i was out on vacation, instead of hiring a new receptionist (like we were told they were doing), the big boss filled the office manager position that i had suggested to my boss.
one the one hand, i’m glad we’re getting what we need.
on the other hand, none of these assholes even…

Aww, I am so glad that you were a part of it! :)
First things first, you rocked at the circle of thanks. One of the best first timer speeches I’ve heard.
Also, I battled depression/anxiety for several years even with that optimistic ooze surrounding me, and so I can’t imagine facing that fight without it. They’ve rubbed off on me a bit. So if you ever need someone to lean on, you can look me up. Though I don’t quite match their expressiveness (let’s face it, you can’t really get them to shut up!), I have spent a good many years listening and giving support. :)
As you meet new people, try to find at least one beautiful thing about them (even the jerk who is arguing with the cashier at the grocery store). Make note of at least one person each week that you found beauty in.
There’s something to be said for being able to find the beauty in even the…

so, yeah, it’s unfortunate that i didn’t take the time to document the progress i’d been making over the last couple of weeks, since now i seem determined to focus on the negative events of the weekend.
what. the fuck. ever.
part of the progress i’d made was opening up to someone newish. i got…
Ok, what the fuck happened here? You don’t have to tell me, but I kinda want to punch this dude in the dick. And I feel like I need more info to really feel that rage is justified.
